Spirtual Awakening

For years I struggled to believe in myself and the power within me. Trust for myself had been broken through many difficult experiences, which left me to doubt my abilities.

For years, I believed I could never trust my intuition or brain, until I spoke to a therapist who helped me realise that the answers lie within me. Initially, I didn’t believe her, how could I? I had zero trust for myself.

This is spoken word piece explores my journey of keeping faith in my intuition, and how this has helped in my healing. This journey has changed me deeply and helps me daily to overcome the challenges that life throws at me. The trust in myself, is my spiritual awakening.

I’m drowning in quicksand,
Somebody please hold my hand,
After years of struggling,
I came to understand,
That changing my mindset
Would free my spirit in this land,
Yet I remained my own enemy,
Dedication fueled me with hate,
I was only hurting me,
My own face I couldn’t take,
Happiness I couldn’t perceive,
Self-doubt would destroy
Any technique I would employ
To change my life for the good,
A wise woman told me maybe I could
Try self-love & it initially felt so strange,
How could I love myself, if I couldn’t even trust me,
Slow steps daily, showed me love – trust me,
I realised self-love gifted me with a new life,
I didn’t need approval or others telling me what’s right,
From that day I became my own best friend,
Trusting myself, to the very end,
Theres no end, when self-love is the road,
Far from quicksand, can’t be dissolved.
