Take a Moment
to Reflect on
The year
The end of the year is a good time to look at the year that was and start to plan for the year ahead.
5 Questions I like to Ask Myself
- What is something you have learnt that you want to take into the next year?
- What is something you lost this year and what is something I gained this year?
- What did you get really excited about this year?
- What did you do this year that had a positive impact on your mental health?
- What do you hope for your future self?
Sometimes the process of looking back and reflecting can bring up difficult feelings. If this happens, it can be useful to reach out to a trusted person in your life to talk it through or you can reach out to eFriend.
eFriend is a virtual peer support program for people who are feeling low, lonely or isolated. Our trained peer workers have their own lived experience of mental health and navigating recovery and can offer insight, provide hope and empathise.
If you are in immediate crisis or having thoughts of suicide please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or emergency services on 000. eFriend is not a crisis line and cannot be accessed 24/7.

What happens in an eFriend Session?
After you complete your introductory call, eFriend sessions are fairly open-ended and will look different according to your individual needs.
You might use your time to:
- Vent about a difficult situation to an empathetic ear.
- Brainstorm ideas to help create more social connections.
- Ask your peer questions about the process of seeing a psychologist.
- Share new self-care strategies that you and your peer are trying.
- Build up your confidence to seek out further supports.
- Start a positive new habit using your peer as an accountability partner.
In a recent evaluation of eFriend completed by the Black Dog Institute, over 85% of participants surveyed said they were either extremely or very satisfied with the program.
Do something good for yourself and book a chat with an eFriend. You might be surprised how helpful it can be to simply talk.
