Tips on preparing for your eFriend call

Jun 9, 2020 | eFriend Blog Posts

Here at eFriend, we like to think that using our service is a fairly simple process. However, it’s always good to be prepared! Here’s a list of things you might like to consider before you jump on your call…

Find an appropriate space.

Since you’ll be sitting on your eFriend call for thirty minutes, it’s best to choose somewhere that is fairly comfortable. A chair or a sofa is an ideal choice! It’s also important to remember that you might be talking about some sensitive topics with your eFriend, so steer clear of common areas if you live with other people. It’s a good idea to remove any distractions such as pets or babies if possible and turn your phone notifications off!

Have lighting in front of your face.

If you’ve ever tried to take a photo in front of a window, you’ll know that it’s hard to see the person in the foreground if the background is really bright. If your chosen spot seems a bit dark, try moving a lamp in front of you so that it shines onto your face. Looking good! (Of course, those who choose the audio call option are off the hook for this one.)

Set up your tech beforehand.

We’ve all been there before. You open up your computer ready to do that urgent task, but as you open the application it pops up with an update that takes twenty minutes to download. Or you suddenly forget ALL your important passwords trying to log in to that important work call. Technology offers us so many great opportunities, but it can also cause our biggest headaches! So for this reason we suggest getting settled, opening up your computer or phone, and logging in to eFriend a few minutes before your appointment begins, just to be safe.

Use headphones if possible.

If you have headphones that have a built-in microphone, please use them! This makes it easier for us to hear you as it cuts out background noise, and also keeps our conversations 100% private if there’s anyone else at home. However, if you don’t have any appropriate headphones available, using the microphone from your computer or phone is just fine.

Have a drink ready.

It’s a great idea to have a cup of tea, coffee, or water ready and accessible for your call. You might be surprised how dry your mouth can get when you’re talking a lot! Water is a great option as it can help calm you down if needed, or keep you hydrated after a much-needed cry.

Consider your talking points beforehand.

Have you ever been swept away by a conversation so engaging that you forgot to make a really important point? If this is something that sounds common for you, it might help to jot down a few main points you’d like to talk about. This can help you make the most of your thirty minutes with your eFriend, ensuring that you get to address what is most important to you. However, if you prefer to go in unplanned, that’s perfectly okay too!

So now that you’ve got all the information to be ready for your call, we hope you’re feeling confident and we’re looking forward to having a cuppa with you.
